They poured lighter fluid because diesel does not ignite with a naked flame, then later in the film only 1 shot from the shotgun ignited the diesel!
Actually, the issue was over motor oil not burning. Not diesel.
sharethe first idea of pouring motor oil downhill was nixed because MO wouldn't burn so they used lighter fluid
at the end he shot the propane tank which exploded when the flames from the magic diesel fuel ignited it
he shot the magic diesel fuel in the pump which caught fire because it was magic
as everyone knows diesel will not combust when shot but if your in a movie it will because its magic
I can't really stress enough the magic involved in getting the diesel to ignite like that.
