OH *beep* THE CAMERA GUY IS LOSING BALANCE AND HAD A FEW CASES OF BEER BEFORE HE SHOT THIS SCENE WHOOOOAAAAA
And the only time the camera actually focuses on the damn thing, it's some of the crappiest CG this side of a sci-fi original movie.
I tried to like this movie, I really did. The plot was sort of refreshing and the characters had some personality, but if there's one thing that ruins a movie, it's someone doing a do-si-do with the cameraman as soon as the monster shows itself. They went through all the trouble of making this cool puppet monster and they won't even give us a decent look at it?
to floppy lobster21. Grow up and learn to leave an educated opinion next time. sorry you are not getting any. try your hand next time and leave the farm animals alone.
I think the monster was actually the "Pizza The Hut" costume from "Space Balls" with some splinters added. Shaking the camera never makes a scene more exciting, it only makes the audience nauseous.
Using a hand-held camera is supposed to make the film look more "immediate" and "realistic", as if it's shot in real time like a cinema-verite documentary. Frankly, that sort of thing only me nauseous, as if the movie wasn't nauseating enough to begin with. I think in this movie, it's also supposed to help us share the characters' inner disorientation, or some such rot.
I personally liked this movie, but because I've seen so much boring stuff this month, thanks to Syssify's 31 Days of Halloween Garbage, that anything with a little talent and imagination is a relief. ------------------------------------ Currently watching: MythBusters - Duct Tape Hour ------------------------------------
"A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five."
Are ye kiddin' me? The scenes with the Splintered arm and hand, Dancing around like a drunk hip hopper, made me almost cry, i laughed so hard. I mean, the thing is supposed to be threatening, but its just bouncing around like somekind of toy. And the Nuclear Racoon thing at the beginning, just WTF.
"Here, throw these!" "What are they? Gas Grenades?" "No, its Cat food!"
I enjoyed this film but the roller coaster camera did distract from the action. The way the creature danced around was kind of amusing too lol. I really liked the characters and the way the story played out though.
