Just saw it.

Just drove down to Houston from Austin tonight to see Garden of Eden. Good: This film is better than what I was expecting. I am a big Mena fan and I have been wanting to see this film for some time. Mena and the whole cast is great. I think this is Mena's best work to date. And Jack Huston is very good to compared to some reviews I have read. Bad: Who ever edited this movie suck's and we need more from the script about Catherine past. Overall I liked it but I can see why it is getting some bad reviews.Come on DVD with some deleted scenes.

As one of the many small investors in this film, I was disappointed to see the number of cinemas reduce from 14 to 5 for the second week.

Interesting comments re the editing. Although Jeremy Gibbs is credited as editor, we were advised a highly accredited US female (I say this only to distinguish from Jeremy, but don't recall her name) editor was brought in to edit the US version - I'm based in the UK, where no date has yet been set for a release.

Glad you liked it - film definitely needs a wider airing - it is being released in the USA on DVD on 15th March http://tinyurl.com/25ecycp

Does anyone know when it is coming to Europe?

and for france no realease date ?

I saw it today On Demand and I don't know much about the editing - to me it was the sound quality that sometimes made it difficult to sometimes understand. Thank goodness since it was on On Demand - we could stop and backup but there were times we couldn't get what was being said.

One other thing I liked - which some may consider as superficial - but I loved the clothes. It's my favorite era for vintage clothes.

I'm a Balehead forever!!!

I watched it On Demand 2 times. I really enjoyed it. I thought of all the adaptations of Hemingway's novels into films this was the best. Too bad it has received no attention.

I saw this movie On Demand on Tuesday. Mena Suvari sucked, but I loved Caterina Murino. Speaking of Caterina, I have written a letter to her the next day telling her how much I liked her performance in this and requested for an autograph picture. Caterina is beautiful!

Just watched it again and agree with the previous comments on the superb photograpy and locations.

Yes, Mena Suvari's acting ability is a bit questionable in this film and I agree Caterina Murino was excellent. What does anyone think of Jack Huston? He looks a bit whimpish until he dives from the top of the cliff but as one would expect this is not really him - take a closer look.

I would like to see Caterina Murino working with either George Clooney or Clive Owen.

superb photography and locations.... bad second editing....

the film as it was initially done was like a poem... the new editing ruined a lot of it...

I have been waiting for this film and it did not disappoint.
Carmen Maura spoke English! Great performance by everybody but yeah the sound quality sucked

Matthew Modine's acting seems incompatible with that of the rest of the cast. Was he brought in just so the movie could be sold with his name attached to it? If that's so, I understand, but it looks rather obvious.

You will find yourself hitting the rewind button more than once or twice with this film. Overall it was simply OK not much in the way of plot or strong storytelling sort of the emperor with no clothes. Some posters found it enjoyable but I would bet some of those same viewers are simply giving it a nod because of the names attached to it. You won't be overwhelmed by no means but after a second time it does get better.

An example of one part of the movie, is the last scene in witch she wrote a letter to her husband. I could not tell if they had broken up or she was returning to continue to share her husband with there lover and that is the just the beginning of duel messages given in this film.

Even though nothing has come of The Garden of Eden nor has the DVD been released in the UK I still think that there are so many positives that it deserves a much wider airing.

I am not surprised that you are hitting the rewind button more than once or twice with this film.

Even though you say overall it was just OK the fact remains that there are still so many positives to this film that it remains worth viewing.

You are also correct in saying that after a second time it does get better. After a third better still :)

How good are Jack Huston's nude scenes?
