According to the Delanic Films website this is an adaptation of the second book "The Chimneys of Green Knowe" and is being filmed at Athelhampton House in Dorset. This probably makes Maggie Smith the grandmother in the newer bits, Anne Ried the grandmother in the 18th century bits, Hugh Bonneville Captain Oldknow in the 18th century, and Timothy Spall the villainous butler Caxton.

We happened upon Athelhampton House at the weekend, there was definitely fimling going on. I had no idea until looking it up now which film was being shot there, but what a lovely location. We also had a quick look at Chettle House, which was in Amazing Grace. Dorset would seem to be the place to shoot.
