The Amazing Mr Blunden

I thought this film sounded familiar.

It reminds me of one of my childhood favourites 'The Amazing Mr Blunden'

'The Amazing Mr Blunden' is one of my favourites - I watched it many times as a child and I always cried at the end. 'From Time to Time' sounds a bit similar I guess, but no way can it be better than Mr Blunden - it's too good to be beaten as that film is a true classic of British cinema.

ah yess, someone else who thought that.. it is a total rip off

It is also strangely similar to 'Chimneys of Green Knowe' which was written in 1958, about 10 years before Antonia Barber wrote 'The Ghosts' upon which The Amazing Mr. Blunden was based.

Isn't this film based on Chimneys of Green Knowe?

sorry bad wording I was suppose to say 'Yes this film is based on Chimneys of Green Knowe' (I wrote it on Boxing Day give me a break)

Hey Electric_Mayhem_86,

Isn't this film based on Chimneys of Green Knowe?
Yes, that's correct.

Yes, it states that it is based on 'The Chimneys of Green Knowe' at the beginning of the film.

There were 6 'Green Knowe' books, I haven't read them but remember fondly the BBC 80s adaption of the first in the series, 'The Children of Green Knowe':

As for the comparisons to 'The Amazing Mr Blunden', 'The Chimneys of Green Knowe' book was written in 1958 before 'The Ghosts' (which Mr Blunden was based on) was written in 1969.

With a big old house, ghosts, time dimension travel, tales of cruelty, and a fire I can see why comparisons are being drawn. But the stories are different enough in their own way, and both good old fashioned ghost yarns. Although, whilst this film is good, nothing can close to the charm of 'The Amazing Mr Blunden' for me.
