As a standalone movie, it's really not too bad. I did not like the family drama nonsense, but the movie had some pretty good scares. Just try not to compare it to the original Poltergeist, because it will never live up to it.

I agree I finally saw it this weekend, and even though it didn't scare the crap out of me like the original did, it wasn't that bad. It won't live up to the original in my eyes, but that is b/c I always loved the original movie.

People are stupid with random moments of brillance!
