They kept saying that the ghosts needed someone to lead them to the light. But why?? It's a bright light, get off your ass and go to it! And you can't say they didn't know to go to the light because that's why they took the girl! It's like hey little girl, see that light over there? how do I get to it? So stupid. There should have been a better reason why they took the girl.

No, "they" never took the girl in the original. "The Beast" took her to lure the lost souls away from the Light, which is a brilliant story. The remake makes no sense at all because they got rid of the Beast.

IIRC, in the original, The Beast was keeping the spirits from entering the light. By having no Beast in this one, the spirits look extremely sfupid.
