Why on earth make a horror on pg13?

One of the elements of the R raring is the horror is too intence. If you make a horror movie and it does not qualify for a R-rating, it is simply not scary enough for adults.

I was considering this movie as I liked the original, but seeing the PG13 is enough for me to know, that those 90minutes are best spend elsewhere

A question that will no doubt be asked until the end of time. As it stands Fox loves PG-13 movies, they think that's where the money is at.

I liked The Ring; World war Z; The Skeleton Key; 1408; Insidious; Drag me to hell;

Just to name a few

The Ring scared the crap out of me and it's PG-13.

But that's the only PG-13 movie that has ever scared me, save Jaws and that would not be PG-13 these days.

The original was PG.

What makes for an R rating: nudity, sex, extreme gore, violence.
I get what you're saying, but by your criteria Jaws, the original Universal & Hammer films, the Corman poe pics, and other classics wouldn't cut it as good horror flicks. The original Haunting is one of the scariest movies ever made.

I think there's a lot of wiggle room in what we expect from a really well done horror movie. In some ways, I like the remake of Poltergeist.
