The neighborhood

What was supposed to be so bad about it? Did I miss something? Is it that the house "only" had four bedrooms?

And why stick the little kid in the attic? The girls could have (gasp!) shared a room. I know plenty of people who did and are alive and well today. Or make the older girl go up there if she refused to share.

I know, right?? I'm sitting there going "they're in a much better house than I am living in!' and they are talking like this is a step down...step down from...???!!!

The only thing I can think of is maybe they were living in a Beverly Hills type place before, and now they're in a "middle class" area? And their friends were just snobs.

Wasn't the husband fired from a job?

The neighborhood was fine, but a lot of the homes were being foreclosed on.

I mean, really, how many times will you look under Jabba's manboobs?

reply

That doesn't make it a "bad" neighborhood.

The way people talked, it sounded like they were almost in a ghetto.

From what I can remember, most of that talk came from the ritzy jerks at the dinner party, so I'd take what they said with a grain of salt.

Sounds like they hung out with a pretty snobby crowd.
