Who in their right mind would try to outdo Steven Spielberg? Is there a better director out there? No. He is brilliant! I only watched this to see how someone thought they could do it better. Well, no surprise, they didn't do it better. I'd rather watch reruns of the Spielberg movie than watch this new one. And, I've watched the original MANY times over the years. I'm REALLY surprised that any movie studio would put money on the line for this remake!

The original was directed by Tobe Hooper.

That's what the credits said, but anyone watching it could see it was really Spielberg

You're correct. Thanks for the correction. He was a writer, only. I didn't realize that. But this new one is really bad.
