They made it a point to dolly in with the camera after he has his credit card embarrassment and then he frowns and looks in the car mirror, and I'm not sure what he sees, I see the mall and the parking lot... a tree.. a car rolling along...

I think he sees the mall and decides to buy everyone a gift because that third cc worked while buying the squirrel traps. Why he decides to do that when he has no money is beyond me, but I think he just wants to feel better about himself.
