It seems that the US dvd is no longer available and copies are very expensive on amazon and eBay. Is there a reason this went out of print? Is it being re-realeased? (criterion?:)-just kidding, one can dream)

shareMy guess is whoever owns the title doesn't believe it will sell well enough to print anymore... Which seems kinda counterintuitive considering they just released a remake and it seems studios always release a new edition to cash in on renewed interest. Then again, I don't think anyone was excited about the Martyrs remake.
Hopefully they release this on blu ray one day. The edition I own was bought from Blockbuster and I didn't realize it wasn't Unrated. The movie was still so brutal I can only imagine what was excised to get an R Rating.
I just recently got the DVD from Amazon.ca (Canadian Amazon).
It is the unrated version and it is ALL REGION, so it does play on U.S. players.
It's currently at about $12 -$13 dollars (U.S.).
Also, I live in Portland, Oregon and it only took about 5 days to get to me.
And for those interested, I do believe there is an out of print blu-ray floating around too, but I do not know if it is All Region.
Hope this helps other people, who may be kicking themselves for missing the U.S. DVD release. :)
I have the blu ray but it's a European region b disc.
