anyone understand the big guy's "red spot" on his neck scene ?

Soon after he chained Anna (after Anna being skinned), he had a shower which logically he will clean his body also his neck during his shower.

But soon when he's wearing his shirt, he FEEL that "red spot" on his neck ... which I guess it's not a spot of blood, but a wound. He continue to get dressed, and tell "amazing" to the woman in the kitchen - go to the bathroom, and trying to get rid off of that "red spot" with water, then he hear the woman in the kitchen screaming.

What does it mean of this "red spot" on the neck scene ?
Or maybe there is no meaning at all ?

I know this thread is "old", but since no one have replied- I thought I'd share my thoughts ^-^

I just watched the movie for the first time, and haven't read anything about this scene- so this is just my interpretation of it.
Before this scene we'd seen Anna being tortured to no end, and before that, Mademoiselle explained what the cult were doing and why- and that basically all the girls started to see things that wasn't real (Lucie with the woman, and "La créature" with insects(I believe it was))
So, when this scene came up, all I could think was that this man is starting to lose his mind as well. He had been hurting this girl like crazy- skinning her alive- and I don't think he's a cold person outside the basement. He's just someone who really believes in what he's doing for the cult, but the mind gets twisted.
I believe that he subconsciously tortured himself mentally, and that he began to see things that wasn't real.
But, I'm always open for other thoughts and theories =)

Thank you for your explanation, xReima.
I think your opinion is accepted.

Yeah, he seemed like a really great guy.

Actually, I think it's a wound that Anna herself inflicts when she was resisting earlier in the film. After they buzz her hair off, she's chained to the wall. He comes in to knock her around some more and at one point he turns his back. Anna smacks him with her left hand at the neck level, so I think the shackle probably cuts him here. The wound re-opens during the flaying. A reminder of how far she's come?

Isn't there also a moment near this scene where we start to hear what sounds a little like the creature that haunted Lucie?

It does seem to hint that he's starting to crack. But that might be giving this film too much credit.

Thank you for your opinion AceRoccola.
Yes, I agree that the guy is starting to crack (loose his mind).

xReima also think the same with you.

BTW, I admire your detail hearing on this scene about the vague sounds like the creature that haunted Lucie :).

Thanks.

I thought the point of that scene was to emphasize his moral depravity and that of the cult in general. He's just finished flaying a young girl alive and has not the slightest pangs of conscience about it. He is more concerned about a little scratch he got on his neck in the process than the total destruction of this girl. The idea in general being that the elites' (our self-appointed leaders) regard for the common people is akin to what a scientist feels for the mice he's experimenting on - zero, zilch, nada.
