Has the original 1987 movie been released here?

Does anyone know if the original Japanese movie was released here... and by here I mean in the west? As far as I know it has not been released in my country, I'm certain of it actually. But I have a region free DVD player so ordering it from abroad, like USA or Australia wouldn't really be a problem and would love to see the original movie. Since Hollywood remakes are almost alway inferior(no disrespect here, I quite like many American remakes, but it still doesn't change the fact), if a remake is this fantastic I would certainly like to see the original (even if this was one of the few times remake was as good or better than the original I have faith that the original must be a worthwile viewing experience). I would post this to the originals board but the newest post there is from 2006 and mentioned something about ebay so I thought that someone here hopefully has some fresher information.

You can find the original on youtube.com even with English subtitles. I skipped through different parts of it and found the 2009 to be more appealing. Reply if you Ned help finding. R, MO

By 'here' you need to be more specific by the way. You say in 'The West' but you also say you're not from either the U.S.A. or Australia which are both Western countries...

Yeah, it was a bit dumb and vague, I live in Europe, Finland to be precise) but I meant, and think I said, that I have a region free dvd player so it doesn't really matter where the DVD comes from, I just thought that if it is from any of the countries of the "Western world" so to speak it would have a better chance of having english subs
So it wouldn't really matter where it came (USA, Australia, Canada, Europe or even somewhere else) from as long as it had english subs and wasn't super expensive to order (like if its super rare or something and cost like a hundred bucks to order I might give it a pass).
