Surely we're all thinking the same thing...

Why is this in the Top 250?

I'm not someone to bemoan the list really, even if I'm not a big fan of some of the films, but how did this get in?

It's not a bad film, but it's an limited exercise in making you feel sad for a dog. Not bad, but unambitious and emotionally manipulative.

I find it hard to believe that enough people have thought "Bravo, bravo! 9/10! 9/10!" to lift it past all the people who have the same opinion as me. Any insights?

How about this movie which ranks in at #125:

I can understand that though. It's a massive deal in India, and all the Indian IMDB users have pushed it up despite it being somewhat crappy.

With this though, I don't understand where the fan base is.

Dog lovers.

I'm not thinking that. This movie is seriously my favorite movie of all time (and I'm not some kid who has hardly seen any movies...)

I found it to be a beautiful simple love story, that was low key and straightforward. No sfx, suspense, epic tales of other realms, as far from a blockbuster as a movie can get. Despite that, it's quite possibly the most beautiful movie I've ever seen (I'm over 50 and have loved movies for 45 years) and is a movie that now lives in my heart. Everyone has their own opinion and mine is this movie deserves to be in the 250 and even higher. I love the top ten of the 250, but Hatchi is different.
And maybe another poster is right, that those of us that come home after work, and see our dog is so excited to see us, well, it just makes every day a little better. And this movie is a reminder of how lucky we are.
I adore Pulp Fiction and it is as diametrically opposed to Hatchi as a movie can be. But IMHO they are both deserving of the praise I see in the reviews.
After reading about 20 reviews by imdb users, I am definitely not alone in my appreciation of this movie.
And yes, if you do not shed a tear, you have no heart or soul, or at the very least, you just didn't understand the movie.
