This is the most I have cried in my adult life.

Or perhaps, ever. I rarely do, it's not a physical function that comes naturally at all to me even when the worst things happen, but this movie just wrecked me. I believe I cried a good solid 40 minutes. It is hard to comprehend how hard this movie hit me. I mean, it was just supposed to be a G-rated movie about a dog with Richard Gere and a rather kiddy title, how much could they do with it? Turns out, more than I could have imagined. I mean, this is the magic of movies, truly to make us feel things, to make us feel things powerfully. It was just absolutely brilliant to have the viewers see the world and experience the loss through the eyes of Hachi, and linger on it for the length of time that it did. It added enormous volume and strength to the emotions, it made the connection and the loyalty of Hachi and his master all the more profound. 10/10.

I saw this movie quite a few years ago but even looking at the reviews and thinking about it still makes me cry after all this time.

Same here. I've cried as much as at my dad's funeral. What a great movie.

Same here. I cried so hard

This is the movie that literally made me cry the hardest in my life. The last 20 minutes was too much to handle. Very beautiful film.

Me, too. I found it very painful, actually. It made me so sad.

I have dogs. I wouldn't want them to wait for me to come back. I would hope someone lets them see & smell my dead body. They would know what that means. And take them inside and care for them and not let them wait outside forever. I wouldn't want that for them.

Agreed.
