An uplifting true story but less plot than a shampoo commerical. NOT 8.1
This true story is sincerely touching. So touching that there's a famous statue of the dog, Hachi, in Japan's Shibuya train station (after seeing it in real life I felt inspired to watch this film).
But boy, a lack of plot is like listening to the drone of a bad teacher in school. Even my mum, who hates action and violence, said while watching it, "I actually can't wait for some gun fights".
This is NOT an 8.1. Anyone who rated it that highly is giving it that because of the real story's sentiment, which again is truly moving. But as a 93 minute film, I'd give it only 6 at the very most.
