Rose McGowan in This -- Very Good!

Whether or not QT "can't write for women" -- and the characters of Mia in Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and The Bride suggest that's not true...he sure couldn't write eight of the nine main women in THIS movie.

To the extent there is a problem with "Death Proof" it is that the famous "Tarantino dialogue machine" just breaks right down with the dialogue for the four women who get run over in Part One and the four women who are stalked and turn the tables in Part Two. Bad dialogue, across the board, making for some very irritating females.

But one of the ladies in the movie -- who is included in neither the first group of four nor the second -- is written and played just right. Its Rose McGowan -- back in the day when she was quite willing to play the femme fatale sexpot, but here playing a rather sunny, sympathetic and almost NICE sexpot. Blonde hair, pretty face, great attitude ...she talks and flirts with Kurt Russell's Stuntman Make so nicely that -- when it becomes clear that she is to be his first "victim of the night" to die in his "death proof car"(and quite bloodily) ...we are very sad for Rose...and just hatin' Mike.

The years have changed Ms. McGowan for a variety of famous reasons. But catch her in "Death Proof." Real star quality.
