Saw this movie originally when it came out as a standalone movie on it's own and hated it. Spent most of it cringing at the dialogue making the girls trying to sound as "hip" and "sassy" as possible. Just came off boring and like listening in on a group of people having in jokes that aren't funny to everyone else.

I thought this might have been because I was watching the standalone film with the longer running time. Watched Grindhouse today and have the exact same feeling. It's just so cringey! There is about 20 mins of actual worthy footage in the whole film. I cant believe there is not more hatred for it. The whole scene with the 2nd group of girls at the diner with the reusing of the Reservoir dogs camera movement was a story about a girl falling in a ditch for christ!

So basically what you're saying is QT accomplished his goal of paying homage to B-films. The dialogue was intentionally a long-drawn-out process. I'm guessing you failed to realize that fact.

I cant believe there is not more hatred for it.

I can't believe there's any hatred for this film. Considering this film was intended to be a modern-day B-film, Death Proof is about as perfect as it gets.

Yes I am aware of the homage to b movie / exploitation intention however to say that QT intentionally set out to make a terrible movie and pulled it off perfectly is giving him way more credit than he deserves!

I am sure QT was writing the dialogue thinking how genius it was and that audiences would lap it up like the dialogue in pulp fiction or reservoir dogs.

Rodriguez did a much better film with planet terror in poking fun at the b movie / grindhouse films it is inspired by and at the same time made a decent film which was a lot of fun to watch. DP on the other hand is just a bad movie, not even bad its good like the movies it is trying to pay homage to.

Even with the argument of QT setting out to make a "its so bad its good" movie I would liken that to me posting a vid on youtube of myself intentionally falling over after seeing a video of someone actually falling over.

Williebeaman - I wholeheartedly agree with your views. To pay homage to 'b' movies doesn't actually mean one has to put together a droning monologue of % 87.5 sheer boredom. Qt has done, and I'm sure, will do much better.
