they were smoking weed out of a pipe made for smoking weed. it's the crackheads that smoke their crack in a weed pipe, gets everyone confused...

Apparently, in some weird universe, Meth doesn't exist to you people. Crack is pretty much phasing out. Meth is America number 1 drug directly under pill popping. And, yes. Meth heads do smoke from similar pipes used in this film.
