The role reversal

I really enjoy this movie but one thing that bothers me more and more every time I watch it is that the revenge/turning of the tables at the end is not 100% justified in my opinion. Yes, Stuntman Mike chased them and nearly killed Zoe, literally leaving her for dead. Kim had every right to shoot him in that moment. But, as much as I enjoy what happens next, it doesn't really make sense for them to hunt him down, chase him and kill him while putting other people's lives in danger. They all got away without a scratch!

I think it would have been slightly better if they didn't leave Lee behind and instead used cell phones as collateral (which would explain why they wouldn't call the police). And then somehow during the first chase, Lee could be killed. This would force them to get revenge, it would still be over the top but slightly more justified and all the girls would have looked much more sympathetic. I didn't like that they left Lee behind with a potential rapist to begin with.

First of all, you're questioning morality in a QT movie. That's one area I love about QT: the victims in his movies often give the tormentor a true taste of his own medicine. So there is no "good guy" in his movies, only main characters which people often end up rooting for.

Your version of the movie would be way too black and white for me.

You come across as a huge pussy, dude. A bunch of women killing a serial killer who tried to kill them, and all you get out of it is "waah, feminism is evil and violent"? Grow a pair.

I don't like the way blood money spends.

He never tried to kill them.

Did you fall asleep during the first part of the car chase when he's chasing them with Zoe holding on for dear life on the hood?

"The first film is about male dominance and its violent manifestations and the 2nd one is about the violent effects of feminism"

No. Your implication that feminism is a promotion of female dominance is woefully misguided, as is your interpretation of this film. "Hatred of men" is misandrism; the opposite of feminism. Feminism is about equality. Moreover, the film doesn't deal with "male domination", it deals with a sociopathic pervert. The comeuppance he receives isn't an outright act of feminism. It isn't so black and white. The movie doesn't subvert gender roles so much as it subverts the very idea that genders should be designated 'roles' at all.

So sad.

Well I can say that over three years later, this flaw bothers me A LOT less.

No I know I was just updating. I meant to add how surprised I was that my minor complaint resulted in such an odd post about someone's twisted view of feminism but I was in a hurry.

They got away without a scratch because they managed to. Just think of it, perhaps they even saved some other girls from him.

To the guy saying it's about the "dangers of feminism", you're reading too much into it dude. It isn't misandry what you see, it's hatred towards the guy who tried to kill them. Not because it's a guy. If it was a woman, I'm pretty sure it would develop the same way. The guy messed with the wrong girls, he expected to be a wolf among sheep but didn't know they were stunt people like him. The wolf messed with two wolves thinking they were sheep.

To the guy saying feminism isn't misandry, that applies to early feminism, 1st wave one. Sadly modern feminism isn't about equality and is nothing but a bastardization of the original feminism. And yes, the average modern feminist tends to be ugly, at least the most outspoken ones.
