Title switches from QT's Thunder Bolt to Death proof

What game is on here, Quentin?

Yeah there's a story behind that. From what I've heard, the actual working title of the film actually was Thunder Bolt before it was changed to Death Proof. It appears the way it does in the movie as a callback to the movies they would show at Grindhouse where if they changed the title of the film a little too late, they could physically cut the original title out of the film prints and stick in a band and generic title card with the new title.

Grindhouse style? I knew it's done for a reason despite I'm not familiar with that movie era.
Thanx for respond though ;-)

Yeah, a movie would fail, so they'd retitle it, and put it back into theaters hoping it would do better.

Wasn't Kurt Russell in 'Thunderbolt and Lightfoot'?

No Kurt Russell wasn't in Thunderbolt and lightfoot, back in the day when grind house was big, cinema managers would quite often change the title of the film to something which would draw more people in, Deathproof sounds better, that's why the pic is different as if the manager had left a few frames in when he spliced his title in, it will have been totally intentional by Tarantino,
