Brilliant acting, structurally inventive, but doesn’t play fair with the audience
There are scenes without Hopkins in them that contradict each other like at least one version is a delusion. But whose delusions are they if not his?

shareNo thats the point, he isn't getting anybetter. Besdies the conclusion of the movie Hopkin's character is understanding less and less of the world around him so it becomes less clear what is happening in the film. This includes things like how convosations are repeated by multiple actors, the father is desperate to put together the pieces of his shattered life (broken ceramics and diffuson of ligght in glass ) and only gets more frustrated as things make less sense and become unsolvable.
shareYou're missing the point. The audicience is to experience the confusion of an alzheimer patient PERIOD
shareThat's the point. Dementia play fair with its victims.
