Looks like audiences are liking it a lot more than critics

At least, that is, according to the RT score so far.

Pretty big disparity there between critics and audiences. It will be interesting to see how that shapes up as more audience scores come in.

Imdb has a 5.4 rating with lots of fake 1* and some fake 10*.

Metascore 39 critics, and 2.9 = 5.8/10 users.

reply

Well that combined with an 87% on RT leads me to believe that the movie is probably about a 6.

reply

Critics have been proving themselves to be out of touch with the rest of the public more than a few times of late.. See what the difference between the critics and the public of Dave Chappelle's latest stand up.

reply

Yeah, I've noticed. The Chappelle special is a good example. I'd also point to Angel Has Fallen and Rambo: Last Blood.

Or going the other way--critics loved it but audiences were tepid--Ad Astra.

reply

Read a little about what lead to that. Only certain critics on RT were allowed to review it in the beginning. They WANTED to slam it, not represent it from a balanced perspective. It had SJW politics all over it.

reply

You are so certain it was because of SJW politics, but SJW politics doesn't come anywhere close to explaining the low score given for Gemini Man.

reply

I don't think politics has anything to do with the Gemini Man score. I think we just consistently see with critics that they are pretty hard on action films if those films are not especially smart or innovative narratively. They have lost their ability to just sit back and enjoy a basic action movie.

I haven't seen Gemini Man, so I can't speak to it specifically, but I've seen this pattern play out repeatedly in the past.

reply

doesn't that happen quite often?

reply

Seems to be happening more and more.
