what's so great about this movie?
it was formulaic. not really groundbreaking in any way. the acting was so-so.

shareIt worked as a dramatic thriller, about a key historical event. And the key roles were played by well-known veterans, such as John Goodman and Alan Arkin.
shareAgreed, felt like a TV movie. Very pedestrian direction, lack of any real suspense, uninteresting screenplay, lame comic relief. Affleck is such an intensely mediocre filmmaker.
~ I'm a 21st century man and I don't wanna be here.
Terrific blend of fact, fiction, archival footage, suspense and humour surrounding a pivotal historical event during the last century. The Iranian scenes were brilliantly recreated.🐭

Nothing really. A formulaic unoriginal film.
shareVery poor film. Atrociously overrated.
shareJust tried to watch it. Didn't make it past the first hour. By far my least favorite of Affleck's work.
shareNothing. It's quite bland, which is Affleck's specialty.
shareIt's full of suspense, well acted, based on historical events, entertaining and has a great crowd-pleasing ending.
shareIt's full of suspenseMOST of which was fake nonsense that never happened.
well actedYou thought Affleck acted well?? Okay.....
based on historical eventsOnly very remotely. At least 85 percent of it was utter nonsense that never happened.
entertainingOnly in a mindless sort of way.
and has a great crowd-pleasing ending.Everyone was supposed to wave their flags and cheer -- when if they had known anything about the real story, and had been THINKING at all, they would have rolled their eyes and groaned at all that silly nonsense at the end which isn't what happened at all.
