Reason Patty always includes a 'Test' to the mixers?

This bugs me when she does it because, A: she is being paid to find the millionaire a potential lover.

B: Patty doesn't do anything much to try to change the millionaire's opinion on who and why they choose the kind of person they do, normally. Yet she expects them to not choose the same kind of person that they have been attracted to in the past?

C: Putting a tester into the mixer just gives Patty an excuse for failing to find the millionaire someone. This is the biggest problem for me with the show. Surely it would be in the best interests of the client NOT to put a test person into the mix?

Just a few possibilities:

A. she is not being paid to find any millionaire on the show a potential lover - they're all given their services for free. She is being paid to create drama or risk getting her show cancelled

B. she expects them to either choose the wrong kind of person (indicating they need more guidance) or choose the right kind of person (indicating there's hope for them)

C. it may actually be in the best interests of the client to put a test person into the mix.

Consider a client who's given only "suitable" choices: the client may feel shortchanged because his/her usual (wrong) "type" isn't available. As a result, the client may feel that he/she must simply choose the "best of the worst." Such a client may blow the date or even back out entirely.

On the other hand, having a test case among the potential dates/mates allows the person to repeat his/her mistake, demonstrating a need for further guidance.

Presumably, her real clients aren't paying for just one mixer and date. They're paying for as many match-ups as it takes. That being the case, it's easy for me to imagine that "trapping" the client is a quick & easy way to expose a weakness that can be directly addressed.

I could be wrong about all of this, of course, but it just strikes me as an effective way to show people where they're going wrong, rather than simply telling them and expecting them to believe it on faith.

I love how she tells the men to not test a woman but it's fine if she does it!
