Share your ideas for Never Back Down 2

So, since people have been creating these kind of threads where they speculate what would happen if a sequel were to come up, I think it's nice to have them all in one single thread.

Anyway, here are my thoughts about it.

- The movie opens up with Jean Roqua finally ariving in Brazil to mend his relationship with his father. He goes in, talks to him, and it is pretty obvious that while his father is still grieving for his lost son, he has missed Roqua a lot over the past years they spent apart.

- Meanwhile, Jake is in his last year of college and his romantic relationship with Baja is going strong. Despite trying his best not to follow Ryan's footsteps, Jake is now as revered and popular as Ryan was, with Ryan transferring to a different school to avoid the humiliation.

- The students suddenly notice that there's a new kid in school, and as any fresh blood, the local bullies start harrasing him and ambush him into a fight one day. However, much to Jake's surprise (who sees it in progress), the kid holds his own before Jake even has to intervene to stop him from seriously harming the bullies.

- The instigators leave and the newbie is left with Jake when it is revealed that the kid's name is Lucas and he has come here to meet his real father. Jake is first a bit suspicious of it until the kid tells him that his father, Jean Roqua, was one of the more dedicated parent figures his mother dated. However, when it came down to settling down, tragedy struck Jean's brother and he wandered off due to family issues.

- Jake is a bit overwhelmed by this point and feels for Lucas. Jake tells him that despite Jean leaving for the time being, he left the keys to the gym with Jake's mother. It was his wishes for Jake just to open it for the time being so people can train. Jake is no teacher, but he reccomends Lucas trains with them until Jean arrives back in Orlando.

- When Jean does indeed get there, he sees Jake, Baja, and Lucas, waiting for him at the airport. Jean is astounded that Jake would take advantage of his personal life so easily and leaves in the opposite direction. Lucas is left emotionally wounded, and Jake is furious and confused about Jean's reaction.

- When he tries brining Lucas in for training the next day, he is dismissed by Jean who demands his set of spare keys back and tells Lucas he shouldn't have left his mother to visit him. Lucas reveals that his mother is dead, which shocks both Jake and Jean. Lucas is FURIOUS and emotionally scarred at this point, because the airport scene was just a deja vu of Jean walking away from his responsibilities. Even though Jean and Jake now want to help him, Lucas feels that since Jean didn't care in the beginning, he shouldn't now and he doesn't want anybody's sympathy. He's the one who leaves this time.

- Jean is now still as angry as he was at Jake though and casts him out of the 365 Combat. Jake is a bit depressed until Lucas invites him to this new, rival gym that trains 'hardcore'. Jake agrees a bit reluctantly, and his worries are confirmed when he sees that the kids at this gym are subjectted to brutal beatings which would repulse Jean. Jake tells Lucas that he ought to leave and train with Jean, but Lucas hates the idea so much that he decides he doesn't want to be friends anymore with Jake for even bringing the option up.

- Suddenly, an automobile accident kills Jake's mom. She wasn't at fault at all, but some drunk driver. Charlie is sent into a whirlspin of grief and anger and Jake uses the discipline he learned to protect Charlie. There's a bit of a confrontation, but Charlie realizes that despite not being physically there, his mother would've wanted him to continue his tennis career.

- Jean visits Jake to see if he can help out in any way. Jake refuses politely, and Jean is impressed at how well Jake's using his discipline to handle the situation. Jean invites him back into the gym, and Jake asks him if he's sure due to the circumstances. Jean reaffirms, saying the Beatdown his coming up and Jake needs to participate in order to watch over Lucas. For the first time, Jean finds himself encouraging Jake to break his primary rule to never fight outside of the gym. Unbeknown to them, Lucas had come to pay his respects to Jake, but when he sees his father exiting the apartment with Jake, he hides and later leaves without having said a word.

- The Beatdown comes around and the two rival gyms pit their best fighters into it. Lucas has become so adapt at MMA, he mauls through the competition and brutally beats Max. He clearly regrets it, but his fury is consuming him so much he can't stop. In the finals, he and Jake are pitted against each other. The battle is quite even, but Lucas manages to beat Jake by breaking his leg. Jake is carried out of the podium and Baja decides to drive him and Max to the hospital but then Lucas starts calling out anyone who'll step in for a fight with him and Jean does. He appears and for the first time in a long while agrees to fight outside the gym. Jake and Max decide to stay for the fight.

- Jean is on the defensive the whole time, trying to talk Lucas out of fighting further but Lucas won't have it. Jean refuses to defeat his son and starts paying a hefty price for it. When Jean finally breaks down and explains how hard it was for him to leave his mother and endure his brother's death and father's alienation, Lucas realizes what he has done. His gym teacher starts encouraging him to beat his father into submission but Lucas taps the floor and goes to help Max and Jake out. Everyone praises Jean as the new Beatdown champion but Jean, too, rejoins the wounded to the hospital.

- The movie ends with them graduating. Jake and Lucas acknowledge that they're gonna have to look for a job, but Jean offers them to work at the 365 Combat with him. Soon, Jean, Lucas, Jake, Baja, and Charlie head out to Brazil for a well deserved break, with Max now assuming the role of the guy who opens and closes gym in the meantime. He is ecstatic about it, and believes if he trains hard enough, he'll be the next Beatdown winner.

Everything you have said, sucks. I mean how in gods name would it take Jean 4-5 years to get back to brazil and its Jakes last year of college? Max being the new champion? Baja still in the movie? I mean screw that garbage. The first one was awesome, but no dude.

reply

1) Max is NOT the champion, he just sees the opportunity to train harder over the summer.

2) Jean takes 4-5 years to get back to Brazil? WTF are you talking about? It is obvious that Jake is not attending his FIRST year of college in Orlando, but probably his 2nd or 3rd. Let's say it's the latter, and at the end of the 3rd when Jake is the new Beatdown champion, Jean leaves for the summer to reconcile with his father.

3) Baja still in the movie? Boo *beep* hoo, it can be any girl, she's purely eye candy and everyone knows it. And at the end of it, they go to BRazil altogether to check out the MMA scene there.

So no 4-5 years you talked about, Max is clearly never said to be the new champion just optimistic like he always is (the new champion is Jean), and Baja no one cares about. And sorry the first one was nothing special except for the fights. If you want to express your own ideas instead of misunderstanding other ones and spewing crap on them then please do.

reply

Nope, your wrong.
Your movie is about 4-5 years later, which is stupid.
Jake was in HIGHSCHOOL in NBD, and now he's finishing up his last year of college?

Anyway, that doesn't matter, your whole idea is kinda lame, not a successful movie at all. In short : it sucks.

Too bad, try again.

reply

lol Wow, I really don't care if you think it sucks and I won't try anything again. In fact, I was hoping others to chime in with ideas and not tell others theirs sucks (or at least do both, and not just be *beep*

On another note, I thought they were all in college but now that you told me it's supposed to be HIGH SCHOOL, then that only makes the movie seem worse. No way do any of those actors look like high school kids.

But yeah, thank you for contributing absolutely nothing to the thread.
