Liked the movie...but

There are a few things in the story that aren't believable in reality.

Let's start with the party at Ryan's house. The movie never mentions Ryan's mother, but how many parents do you know that allow their children to have parties at their home with alcohol (and possibly drugs) not to mention fights that could send someone to the hospital? What would they have done if the neighbors had called the police because of the noise? What would happen to Ryan's father in civil court if one of Ryan's friends were killed in a car accident after drinking at his home?

Next is the fight scene with the guys in the Hummer. While it was one of the better parts of the movie, Jake would have been suspended from school (and possibly arrested) once it was put on YouTube.

Then there's the next scene at Ryan's house where he beats Max to a pulp. The fact that Ryan's friends were watching and did nothing to stop it, and later helped Ryan dispose of Max in front of Jakes apartment makes them an accomplice. What really struck me about that scene was when Max was in the hospital and said that his parents weren't coming.

Again, how many parents do you know of who would not rush to the hospital to be at their child's side upon finding out they had been assaulted? If it were my child, I would have Ryan arrested and clean his dads clock in a civil suit at the minimum. Yet when Max is in the hospital his parents don't even show up?

Then there's the Beat Down. The club owner would be facing a huge insurance liability by having illegal fights at their establishment.

But then we wouldn't have a movie would we? I guess it's why there's reality and then there's Hollywood. Overall this was a good film. It would be nice to see a sequel since they left a few stories open to continue.

Seriously? Do you really think that kind of stuff doesn't actually happen?
1 - The parents could have been out of town, but also, the father didn't really seem like the responsibly kind of bloke did he? I know plenty of parents who let their kids throw parties, drink, et.
2 - Those things don't always get back to teachers. There are hundreds of those videos on youtube, and i highly doubt even half of the kids involved have been punished by their schools.
3 - Ryan's friends don't exactly seem like the most virtuous people do they? And even though they are fighters, they are not necessarily brave enough to stand up to someone like Ryan.
And I think the implication is that they are bad parents. Not Ryan's mates, Max's folks lol.
4 - Do you really think that real fight clubs don't exist? They are EVERYWHERE. And the owners are fully aware of the crimes they are committing, but it's a risk they are willing to take ... it's also why they only send out the date and time of the Beat Down the day before it happens - precaution.
