Looking at all the fighters in that tournament, they were all around the welterweight mark which in MMA is 170lbs.
I mean come on. So only fighters of that weight can fight in that tournament? If 6 foot plus over 205 pound dudes had enter that tournament, both Tyler and McCarthy would had been crushed, thus servery damaging the initial plot.
Was there a weight restriction? The way the whole thing was set up, it seem too ghetto for it to have such regulations anyways so I assumed it was open weight which makes it more ridiculous.
I mean it doesn't seem that ridiculous to believe that the beatdown was an open weight competition. What about the huge bald asian guy Ryan has to fight? That guy had easily 50 pounds on him.
That's what I was just thinking. Ryan leg kicked him and he just shook his head, then Ryan tried an armbar and the guy picked him up and slammed him, so Ryan went for the choke. That guy was far larger than Ryan or anybody else in the tournament.
I don't think it was a plothole at all. It was a makeshift tournament. Invites through text messages tells the whole story. This was an underground tournament. It wasn't literally underground, but it was hidden inside the club.
Also take into account that The Beatdown Tournament wasn't official. The purpose of weight classes is to have fair competition among divisions, but in that tournament it didn't look like it was about having a fair competition. I mean the fact that they were doing the tournament in one night and that the fights were continuous tells you that weight classes were the last thing on their mind. If they cared anything about being fair they would break the tournament over time, so that the winners of each round could recuperate before the next fight so that you don't end up fighter A fighting fighter B who got his ass kicked, but won in the previous fight.

But that's my point. If it did not have weight classes, than how come there were no more way bigger dudes in there?
In Florida there are big dudes on roids who could had enter this thing with MMA training. Imagine someone like Kimbo Slice in that tournament but with actuall MMA skills?
