Why did they not have Jake and Ryan fight in the Beatdown?

Was it because it would have been EXACTLY like The Karate Kid if they did? Even then, the Karate Kid Part II began with a parking lot fight which was originally planned to be the ending of the first one.

Perhaps.

But I did like seeing the reaction of Ryan when Jake bugged out. It made it more original.

So many other points of similarity with this and The Karate Kid.
