Christian-themed gore-fest

The meaning seemed to be, if you don't believe in God you will die. Just a few jump scares in this otherwise dull and somewhat incoherent movie. The demon seems rather fickle as he zig-zags from the original target of the dying father to a (bad?) priest in Chicago to a herd of goats to the brother in some suburb. It seemed to have no earthly form but preyed on his victim's imagination to get them to commit suicide, except for the last death in which he intervened in bodily form. Why this change in MO? It's not explained or decipherable but by the end of the movie you really don't care. (This movie was just released and the critics love it on RT. It will be interesting to see the audience rating.)

Meaning and plot aside, I think it's well directed. It's strength is its creepiness factor and the atmosphere. I agree though that it could've been much better if the story was more coherent.

Just checked back with RT and indeed, the public is not so enamored as the critics, giving it a score of 63% from 201 votes (critics still at 90%). At IMDB it gets a 6.1 from 5000 votes.

The nurse believed in God and she still died, so i don't think that's the message
