Boooooring!
Also pointles and pretentious...
Then again, what else could you expect from the director of Spiderman and the writer of the Pink Panther?

Ummmm.....
You obviously don't like the idea of love. And also, what was wrong with Spiderman? I thought the first one was not bad. But I do agree with Pink Panther, after the movie finished I snapped the disk...
500 Days was a brilliant movie, mixing comedy, romance and drama hasn't always been the greatest combo in Hollywood (even though so many movies use it). I really felt for Tom and his problems became my problems throughout the movie, which is a great sign of character development and also a great sign of a well thought out story.
Maybe this movie only had an impact on hopeless romantics like myself...

“My God! It’s full of stars!”
So, because someone like Manius or I find this movie boring and pretentious it means we don't believe in love?
You, my friend, escalated that a little far. Someone can hate a love movie and believe in love at the same time.
I, myself, am a hopeless romantic AND I'm in a relationship. I met my current fiancee in the last year of high school and have been dating him since. We're madly in love, still, after 5 years and though we've fought a lot in the past, we realized that what we had was special and have stuck together because we truly love each other. This year we're getting married in September! :)
This movie was simply annoying because they fell in love for the same reason a lot of teens and 20 somethings do- we have a lot in common and you're cute!
Their indieness really irritated me! People who aren't trying too hard don't have to constantly make it known that they like a certain band, a certain music style, a certain artist, a certain poet.. over and over again til you want to just tell them to shut up!
Isn't that how most relationships start? "We have a lot in common, and you're cute." The point of the movie is that it wasn't real love... only Tom thought it was, but it was just puppy love. Summer knew it would only be a passing romance from the start. Tom got his heart broken because he thought there was more than there actually was.
As far as the "indieness" it was annoying to me too. But that's really the only flaw in the movie, aside from some dumb one-liners. The central relationship was believable and more honest than most romantic movies.

a new ignore list member. WELCOME!
apparently Maniuis has very high standards. Maniuis also thinks The Godfather is overrated, Amadeus is boring, and Lawrence of arabia was disappointing... that's fine company to be in I must say. So "boooooring" for this film from him/her is high praise indeed -- even best picture worthy.

RIGOLETTO: I'm denied that common human right, to weep.
I actually loved it and was kept engaged the entire time. Though I hardly lose interest in anything I watch as long as the beginning captures my attention.

Yep it was a snore. I couldn't make it through the movie so I watched Sleepless in Seattle instead and had a blast. lol
shareI like the off-beatness but it could not sustain my interest despite Levitt's best efforts.
Its that man again!!
I don't know about pointless, but boring and pretentious, yes.
