The hype?
I don't think I was in the right frame of mind the first time I watched it so I'm going to watch it again since it's praised so much.
Can anybody explain the hype though? It'll be clearer why when I watch it again.

I remember I first watched it in high school and though I liked it, I thought it was overrated, but now as a working young adult who has had relationship experience, I see it as so much more relatable and probably one of the greatest films of the romantic genre.
share....hype? What hype. Anyone claiming "hype" considering this film is a total
schmuck.
The fact that many people like it, doesn't mean there's a question of "hype over it".
However, if what you mean is "I wanna know what to focus on in order not to miss it again", well, there's no guideline : just make sure you're "mature enough" the next time you watch it.
Memory is a wonderful thing if you don't have to deal with the pastshare
The way it was held up then and held in such high regard.
I'll eventually get round to watching it again.
An aspect of this movie I really liked was the way it jumped from day to day. I'll quote Roger Ebert's review of the movie:
"We never remember in chronological order, especially when we’re going back over a failed romance. We start near the end, and then hop around between the times that were good and the times that left pain."
After reading that, I always looked at this movie not as a movie about Tom and Summer's relationship, but Tom's recollection of the relationship, and found I actually liked it more.
I will admit though, I've seen this movie a lot, and I tend to like it a little less each time.
It's simple. 500 Days of Summer is one of the most (if not THE most) realistic romantic movies ever. You can relate to both of them, if you have been in a relationship.
For example: There are two specific cases in my life, that I can say I was the Tom of the story and the Summer of the story. It's just what life is, and the movie gets it perfectly.
