One problem with the movie (spoilers)

I thought the movie was very well written and played, it's fun to watch and made me laugh on more than several occasions. I loved the direction and think that the cast is great too.
So in general, I really enjoyed it.
BUT there's one thing I DO have as a remark - 500 days is a short amount of time for all of these things happening.
It's not even two years for the relationship to begin, to end, for her to get married somewhere in between and for him to get over it.
Seems unbelievable for him to heal such a heartbreak in less than a few months...

reply

He only heals when he meets Autumn, that's why he looks at the camera when she says her name. Autumn? The station that comes right after summer is over?
I get your point on Summer getting married so fast, but I've seen things like this happening. And Tom HAD to move on I mean Summer was married, inlove and told him that she never loved him.

I thought that. How quickly was the wedding planned? It usually takes people more than a year to plan a wedding.

reply

That really depends on the size and scale of the wedding. Summer didn't seem like the kind of person who would want something super elaborate and expensive.

reply

Yeah, but I mean, that whole process was really quick. Summer and Tom break up on Day 290 and she's married by what, 476?

So six months from meeting to marriage? And basically two months from engagement to wedding. It happens all the time, I know, but frankly, it felt like a plot device to get her married by the end of the timeframe the movie had established.

I think it was utilized to drive home a point. They really weren't compatible. They spent all of that time together and she never felt anything for him resembling love. All he wanted was love from her, or so he thought. Then immediately after they end their "thing", she not only falls in love for the first time with someone else, but she married the guy. She fell for someone hard enough to commit her life to him?

Dammnnnn son!

reply

I agree on the time period...it's super 5h1tty of her to get married that soon after destroying him etc etc. Talking from personal experience I think it would have taken him a lot longer to get over her, if he ever would, but it's a movie...."1345 Days Of Summer" just wouldn't have the same ring

So this part of the comment makes no sense to me, and it's in a similar vein to others I've seen in that it seems to make Summer the caretaker of Tom's feelings and emotions.

Why should Summer not be allowed to move on in her romantic life at the pace she chooses?

reply

did it look like summer was a normal girl ? lol... everything about her was abnormal, and yea - not surprised at all she got married so soon...

Zooey is the cutest, I just love her eyes...
