SPOILERS and those calling it too coincidental
After having their tire punctured and the kids laughing about it they still don't think they will keep coming back to hurt them. Steve wants to propose and have it be here at Eden Lake and it be romantic. The car keys and etc. are in a bag and they don't think they are being watched and will have things taken.
Yes they are delinquents, but Steve had no idea how far they would take it. He confronts them about the car and starts going after the one who stole his car and phone and one pulls a knife and he grabs it and a kids dog accidentally is killed. He is saddened and he drops the knife in attempt to say it was unintentional and even offers to take the dog to a vet. Again, thinking he did something bad and offering to help and saying, "Sorry." He isn't going into a knife fight with children.
The girl doesn't want to stay around and is told by the young girl to Steve, "You shut up your bitch" basically. She knows trouble and they run afterwards. Stuck and not knowing the exact route out of this place they run and have their windshield cracked and no headlights and Steve gets stuck.
Scared she runs with the GPS device and sees them coming and hides due to them being all around her and removing Steve throughout the night and beating him senseless. She has no idea the path to get out.
She has no out course and follows the blood trail from the car to witness what is happening. In desperation she dials 999 from the GPS to Steve's phone and they get an idea she may be around and look.
Still having no idea how to get out she follows trails and such in an attempt to find the way out. Of Course, she finds Steve and does everything she can to help him before going back to looking for a way out and following trails to help. It makes this easier for the kids that know this place very well able to track her, but she is running in circles.
Yes she steps on a large nail and it hobbles her, but its not that unrealistic if you are in a construction site and its part of horror experience.
She finds a young Indian boy and asks for help. He is not at all part of their gang. He was most probably found earlier and approached and told by them that if he finds her to call them and tell them at a certain spot or they will murder him. Terrified, he does so.
Caught, then we know the burning, and the young one runs, but they knew from the beginning he was going to die they just didn't want the blame for murder. The psychopathic fear sets in in everyone from the stabbing to now this.
Edit: I forgot about the older brother coming to pick up his brother. Jenny is looking for the main road back and stumbles upon the older one of Ricky, another of the kids. This isn't really that coincidental considering she could of just been filmed walking a mile then seeing him down the road. But, that's going to be long and boring for film-making. So she runs into him and who else at that hour of the night going to a construction site be? A stranger? So Yes, it will be a relative or someone that knows one of the kids and looking.
So the running starts and we know what happens. Her driving out but the ending is still plausible since from the beginning we see that Jon's house and the town neighborhood is directly in front of the entrance to Eden Lake. And they are slime and garbage parents from the onset.
Then the ending where the Mirror Imagery starts and you understand the beginning a little more clearly and the reason the kids are this way. I forget to mention the radio speaking of properly raising your children on the way in, but that's part of it and obviously her being a kindergarten teacher.
So with the mirror imagery we see these kids now as adults and they look nearly identical. You see that the knives are now swords on the wall and everything was just exacerbated. She is getting the worse of it.
Brett goes into his room and looks back in the mirror and realizes he's next up and is becoming his father. No happy ending. Like real stories in life.
