Show should be renamed 'I'm some guy and I committed some normal crimes'
I haven't seen anyone locked up, or abroad in a while now.
shareI haven't seen anyone locked up, or abroad in a while now.
shareThey probably ran out of ideas.
Was the Shaun attwood story one of these cases? His story couldn't have been bigger bs.
The Vegas Mobster one was strange.... as far as I could tell he was an American and in America.
At least Shaun Attwood was British in America.. so technically he was locked up abroad (although also a huge douche... and not where most viewers consider abroad). I have no idea how this one even counted.. because the Nat-Geo channel is British?
Yeah for some reason I didn't like Shaun and his story. Seemed like he wanted the viewers to sympathize with him and when he was talking it was as if he was going "me, me, me".
I also notice how he's so infatuated with his own episode and story more so than any other person that's taken part on this show besides maybe Henry hill.
yeah shaun annoyed me because of the whole 'they threw me in this terrible prison, and all i did was become a drug lord of SoCal...' it wasn't like he accidentally made a bad decision once coming back from thailand, the dude was actively knowing what he was doing for a while. which is fine, but don't play the victim then.
then his parents pissed me off even more. on some subliminal level they just seemed like "we're so proud of our little drug kingpin. look at what he did all by himself!"
I agree. That guy was a toolbag and so were his parents. He made it into an episode glorifying about himself or acting as if his crimes were great in a way I've never seen before on this show.
When I saw the Youtube version of the video he even comments on the video himself explaining to viewers. It's ridicolous.
When he went to prison why would I feel sorry for him? He made it sound as if the Arizona prison was on par with Belize or Rwanda's jail system. Yeah right.
I haven't seen that one yet, but I certainly would count a British guy in America among the ones I would not expect at least from this show (although he's technically locked up abroad.) I was thinking more of the Vegas mobster one, and this newest (and particularly boring) "Fast, Furious and Locked Up" about some douche street racer who got caught stealing people's stereos... wow, gripping TV.
I (and I would imagine many other) regular viewers of this show watched it to hear about dumb drug mules or other people who did something stupid in another country, and then to hear about what said country's judicial system and horrible prisons were like, and maybe see what happened to their girlfriends/boyfriends/hustlers who got them into the mess in the first place. All of those elements have been gone lately, and this has been indistinguishable from the million other "true crime" shows on TV that are very tired for me.
