Selma, LBJ, and BofaN (2016)
Selma was attacked because it didn't tell the story from LBJ's perspective. Joe Califano wrote an editorial and said Selma should have been about LBJ not the black protesters.
I haven't seen BofaN 2016, but Eva Duverney's movie Selma wasn't even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. This was in a year when Birdman won, LOL.
I haven't seen BofA (2016) yet, but it seems a bit foolish to criticize a fictional movie for not being historically accurate.
It should be ok for black filmmakers to make movies from a black perspective.
Let's remember that the alt-Right has been very active this year in social media. Let's not let them drive the narrative.
