I just saw this film...by accident, really. It was excellent and I hope military men of ALL sorts-soldier, sailor, Marine, guardsmen, airmen-ALL of you feel the honor this film was so clearly giving you.

I have a question about uniform protocol. In the scene at the VFW, both serving military men were dressed in civvies. What was the reason they were not in uniform?

I'm pretty sure it is because they were not on duty at the time. It is the same reason why Bacon's character flew back home in civilian clothes and not his uniform.
