Joan/Cherie Relationship?

I know it's probably been discussed to death, but I'm just wondering what some of you guys thought about the way the relationship was portrayed on film.
I haven't listened to the commentary yet so I don't know if Joan discusses anything in relation to certain scenes and clarifies or not. I know she is very private about her personal relationships so I'm gueesing not. It just seems to me like the film portrays not only a very close friendship between the two but alludes at something further as highlighted in quite a few scenes like; the kiss, the morning after, the intro to the corset in japan and then ending in relation to the song and look on Kristens face. What do you guys think, yay or nay to something more than friends or were they just messing around due to the era?

They had sex on more than one occasion according to Cherie in the documentary Edgeplay. Cherie and Sandy apparently did too, but Cherie ended up with a guy.

I like that it isn't portrayed as this BIG DEAL in the movie. They're very playful and casual the morning after...there isn't any of the "OH MY GOD, WHAT DO WE DO NOW???" drama.

According to Cherie she was just experimenting because she heard that David bowie is bi so she wanted to do just like him. She said that she loved having sex with Joan and Sandy "wasn't half bad either".

yes, that's all in Cherie's book as well... and they're still friends. Here's a pic from Summer 2012 at Cherie's house http://i50.tinypic.com/14dov3s.jpg Cherie posted it on facebook. I was lucky enough to see Cherie open for Joan in 2010 at The Pacific Amphitheatre concert they did at OC Fair. It was awesome. They did not sing together, but it was still amazing and Cherie still sounds f'n great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRpZU-sFVVY
