Lita Ford
Why was Lita Ford's future accomplishments not mentioned in the closing credits?
shareI read that she didn't give them the rights to her life story. So they could only show her in relation to Cherie, Joan, and Sandy.
shareLita very publicly was not a part of this movie, although she met the actress playing her in the film and thought she was cool. I do think they should have listed Lita's accomplishments at the end and I don't think there would have been a stink, but Lita and Joan have an on-going feud for 30 years due to Lita's dislike of Joan's manager, Ken Laguna, and Joan and Ken were both executive producers of the film. They should also have put up a bit of a tribute to drummer Sandy West who a couple of years ago succumbed to cancer. (Bassist Jackie Fox, now an attorney, let it be known she didn't want to be depicted at all in the film and so they replaced her with a faux generic bassist character.)
I almost think they should have kept the working title for the film "Cherry Bomb" as the title "The Runaways" gives the somewhat false impression that the movie is about the whole band, whereas in reality it's a filming of Cherie's memoir and was always meant to highlight Cherie Currie and her close friendship with Joan Jett.
Gamera is really neat... He is made of mystery meat!
Thanks for the explanations billqs. I thought the movie was a big diss to Lita Ford but now that I know the backstory, it makes sense why they didn't tell more of her story.
I agree the movie name made things confusing.
No two persons ever watch the same movie.share
The movie was based on Cherie's book so your going to get that angle (her and Joan). I think the Joan-Cherie angle and their relationship was more than just as band mates, they were truly close for a while. They had a special relationship. Lita, the reason she was left out was because she was basically a bitch. The most accomplished musician but not a Joan (who wrote most of their songs) or a Cherie and she resented it. Besides, Lita has always been a bitch. That's just her. Joan dedicated the movie to Sandy in the DVD commentary but she deserved even more than that, she was a very important piece in the band and the bass player just has a stick up her ass. Hell The Runaways had like 4 bass players anyway. The only one that got ripped on movie cred time was Sandy... Ford and Fox had/have attitude problems....
Don't count on hell ever running out of room
