Fermat at the gas station

Is there any explanation for how Fermat (Román) gets out of the gas station (where he buys 45 euros' worth of gas) without his wallet?

Of course, the camera cuts to a close-up of the electric fan, and then we see him walk out, so we are supposed to assume his simply killed the cashier. (Because at this stage we still think he is the villain.) Of course, we later discover he's an ordinary guy, so presumably he doesn't go around killing innocent people over a matter of 45 euros.

So the question, in retrospect, is: How did he manage to walk out of that gas station (without the cashier shouting after him and calling the police)?

(Maybe he keeps extra cash in his shoe...)

That's definitely a plot hole that should've been answered. It's left so ambiguous.

He talked his way out of it same way he talked his way into having the police follow him to the house.

Maybe he left the cashier his watch or something as collateral until he got back to pay.

It's not that big of a deal.

He tells the nurse in the hospital that he has to go back to pay for the gas, so the gas station attendant probably agreed to let him go (he was shown to be very friendly).
