Hated It


Misery porn is my label for this type of fiction. Sad sack protagonist. Multiple characters who are or are accused of being pedophiles. Multiple drug-addict characters. Dysfunctional families. Divorce. Suicide. Custody battle. Lesbian seagull.

None of these are in any way unworthy topics for a good show to explore, but this movie doesn't actually explore them, it just uses them as ornaments for a basic-yet-overcooked murder mystery plot

I love dark mystery movies/shows. I loved Sharp Objects. But this feels like a cynical attempt at imitating that type of content

Good job by Kate Winslet, but otherwise, fuck this
