Well-Meaning Deacon Ubers Sexually Active Teenage Girl to Public Park for Midnight Meetup

She told him to scram, so I guess it makes sense that he did. Why would he keep an eye on her or call the police? It's not like girls have gone missing from this small community. It's not like there are drug addicts roaming around. It's not like she was physically assaulted earlier that night.

The DEACON and DYLAN were "RED HERRING" characters whose MAIN PURPOSE was to MISLEAD the viewer and keep them from guessing the path that leads to the actual KILLER.

Therefore anything having to do with them or that's connected to them MAKES NO SENSE (such as DYLAN BURNING ERIN's JOURNALS to protect JOHN's reputation and HONOR the wishes of ERIN -- who both also SCREWED over DYLAN -- by letting him take the blame for getting Erin pregnant when he did not).

Thus the reason why the DEACON is also BEATEN UP (the same way as ERIN was) when he goes to the FAST FOOD place and the girl who says "USE" ( which is PA speak meaning "YOU Guys") points out how her mother won't let her near the child molesting priest.

In other words, we VIEWERS were also MANIPULATED by the WRITERS who pulled "CHEAP TRICKS" on us by the way DYLAN and the DEACON were presented to us.

I like being manipulated, provided, as Aristotle said, the plot turn is both surprising and inevitable. It should not be contrived and stupid.

They said Dylan torched the journals so that his parents could retain custody. I can make peace with that idea. The cheap tricks involved the child misery porn: The suggestion Dylan would smother the toddler, or that Drew drowned, or bullying a child with Down's syndrome.

The first six episodes were great, but they couldn't tie it all together.

Have you read ARISTOTLE's POETICS???

It was also mentioned over on another topic here.

Anyhow ...

There's NO WAY to MAKE PEACE with the IDEA that DYLAN BURNS the JOURNALS as a way his PARENTS can KEEP CUSTODY of a BABY they've already turned over to CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES !!!

Because also that MAKES NO SENSE whatsoever !!!

Remember LORI telling MARE back in Ep 2 or 3 that she and JOHN were thinking about ADOPTING DJ who was IN PROTECTIVE SERVICES at that time???

DYLAN being willing to KILL DJ made sense to me. I liked that scene and how his mother was standing there outside watching it (which might also explain why she turns the baby over to PROTECTIVE SERVICES).

DJ also wasn't a TODDLER yet either (due to the way he's also NOT WALKING around yet).

But The "DREW DROWNS" scene was also MANIPULATIVE (even though the reason for it is probably also suppose to let us know why CARRIE gave up fighting for CUSTODY).

The problem with the GIRL with DOWN'S SYNDROME being BULLIED is how MARE had also ASKED her about it and she LIED and SAID NO.

And I also agree with what you say about how the first 6 EPISODES were GREAT, but then they BLEW IT with EP. 7.

The SAME THING also happens with THE FIRST SEASON of HBO's "TRUE DETECTIVE" when it turns out to be the LAWN MOWER MAN (a character we've barely seen all season) who was the KILLER.

And S1 of 'WESTWORLD" pulls an even WORSE TRICK when it turns out that we've been watching a YOUNGER VERSION of a MAIN CHARACTER (the MAN in BLACK played by ED HARRIS) in that show at the same time as we watch an OLDER VERSION of him.

But otherwise one also still LOVES the shows even though they also RESORT to USING "CHEAP TRICKS" as a way to tell us their STORIES.

Moira may have been hiding the bullying because she suspected her brother would react violently to anyone bullying her. He has very warped protective instincts when it comes to his family. The incident with the cafeteria tray was not the first time he acted out violently. His Mom said he was acting out like that after his father’s first affair with that Sandra lady.

Yes it's obviously that wasn't the FIRST time that had happened to her. And she may have HIDDEN being BULLIED from MARE for the reason you suggest, but the point is how RYAN won't be around anymore to help STOP it, and what if she continues to LIE to MARE for some other reason?

Perhaps she may also be afraid of being removed from her home the way RYAN has been if she tells Mare the TRUTH?

Because she may also not understand how she won't be the one who is blamed for what's happening to her?

And why didn't she also complain to her teachers about it the way that most kids would do?

Or why didn't any of the other kids report it to them?

The entire situation doesn't add up or work ( especially when someone else also explained how schools have ANTI BULLY programs now where they teach kids what to do in such situations).

And we also didn't see any kind of follow up or counseling sessions for Ryan after he hits the BULLY with the TRAY.
