What is unrealistic about this...

I mean, it was an all-gays'community, practically living together in a very relaxed way, before AIDS. It's no brainer to assume they must have been screwing around big time, 24/7, with all the conflicts coming from that. And in the movie, they're all portrayed like Jesus and 12 apostles in the bible, all preaching and saying nice things.
But of cource, it is a hagiography...:)

Um, there were many references to promiscuity. The movie was about Milk's activism though, not his sex life.
