Plot questions on movie #1 of the F+F series (help appreciated)

Thanks in advance for anyone who can tell me:

1. What is Dominic Toretto's crime (or crimes), for which he was going to jail?

and

2. How did Brian O'Conner keep his job after letting Toretto walk free.

Answers to your questions.

1. What is Dominic Toretto's crime (or crimes), for which he was going to jail?

Beating up the guy that killed his dad. He spent two years in Lampoc Jail Facility.

2. How did Brian O'Conner keep his job after letting Toretto walk free.

He did not...he was recruted back in 2F2F, to bring down one of the drug lords. he was on the run like Dom after F&F.

OK thanks, but my 1st question was actually with regards to: what crime or crimes did Dominic Toretto commit during the course of movie #1 to deserve jail at the end of movie #1 (i.e. the same crime or crimes for which he was going to jail at the beginning of Fast 5)

The police really wanted him in jail again, because they didn't trust him, especially the boss cop, so anything he was involved in was going to get him an excuse to bring him in. The street racing, the car being set on fire, the whole stealing the trucks along the road to get the equipment in the back, attacking the drivers of the truck.
