Mexican tunnels

I didn't really get this part (I know it doesn't matter since... you know...):

Why was it so important to drive so extremely fast through the tunnel at the border? I mean they could have driven normal speed too since neither the chopper, nor any cameras nor anything else could detect them there. Still the chick was screaming they have to drive faster and faster and get out of there. Why???

Weren't the gates closing or something? If you watch closely you'll see that after all cars leave the tunnel the gates go down.

reply

Yeah I got that, but the intelligent people who set the mechanism up ... why did they have to program the gates to go down that early? It's not really smuggler-friendly except if you are Vin Diesel^^

Yea, this made no sense at all. Giselle kept on saying something about ground troops on the way. But that made no sense-- why would they absolutely have to tear out of there within 15 seconds or troops would suddenly pop up. Basically it was just fabricated suspense.

I thought it was because they were trying not to be seen on the oscillating cameras at the border and only had seconds to clear the cameras view so that they would go unnoticed by the border patrol. Although they didn't go completely unnoticed cuz border patrol picked up a satellite heat signature but by the time their security cameras reached the point where the heat signature was, they were gone.

It was to make the video game more exciting.
