After the credits of The Fast and the Furious, there were two quick videos, one showing Dominic in Mexico, the other showing Brian leaving L.A., winning races all over the southern U.S., getting a Nissan Skyline, and finally, arriving in Miami. If The Fast and the Furious was supposed to be followed by this film, then the post-credit film means nothing. Am I right?

I'm not sure what your asking. There just showing you what each character has been up too since the conclusion of, The Fast and the Furious. Those clips of Dom and Brian, fit right in with the time-line of the other movies.
After the events in, The Fast and the Furious. Dom flees to Mexico to avoid being caught and sent to jail. This leads us to, Fast and Furious, where Dom is still out of the U.S. and jacking semi-trucks. When the authorities are catching up with him. He decides to flee again leaving Letty behind. Letty goes back to the U.S. where she gets caught up working for Braga and is murdered. Which brings Dom back to the U.S. where he meets up with Brian again.
After the events in, The Fast and the Furious. Brian is released from being a police officer for failing his mission and allowing Dom to escape. This leads to, 2 Fast 2 Furious, where Brian decides to stay in the street racing scene which leads him to Miami. This leads to, Fast and Furious, where he is recruited by the Feds for his skills and meets up with Dom again.
The order of the movies according to the storyline are...
The Fast and the Furious 2 Fast 2 Furious Fast and Furious The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
