Us fans know Han Dies in Tokyo Drift and I'm confused does this take place before that one or after Becsuse Fast five the team is there Han is alive and the new one Letty is alive they never really explain the time line to well.

In fact Han only says he "hear things are happening in Tokyo". It is never shown or said he is in fact leaving there. Though it is the most likely way things went down.

The timeline makes perfect sense to me. At first I thought the events of Tokyo drift didn't happenbut having the events of this film before tTokyo drift made sense since it explained how han meet Dom.
shareIt's mentioned at some point in this film that it is five years after Dom and Brian last saw each other. That would put the events of this film around 2005 which would have been a year or so before the events of Tokyo Drift.
