Rodney gets shot outside of the diner by Tom's character. He runs over and gives him the "you're going to be okay speech, are you good? Are you good?" And Rodney, with this weird sort of pained/smiling face gives him a thumbs up. What a riot!
That is one of the best parts. Rodney is thinking, "This guy just shot me and now he's giving me a pep talk? WTH?"
Throughout the film Cruise cracks me up with his calm manner of speaking and one of the rare times he blows his fuse ("with me, without me...") it's hilarious, too.
I also like how June said, "You need to get to a hospital. Prison, maybe?"
Thanks for bumping this. I was looking for this thread . Fortunately I don't see 'Cruise being Cruise' in this movie. He plays his part perfectly. A number of people in this movie do. Great director, maybe??? Vanilla Sky could've used this kind of direction, especially on Cruise. He ruined that movie for me
Comedy gold! Thanks. I'm only through the first couple of minutes and my face hurts from laughing. For a second I thought that was a Tom Cruise look-a-like playing Tom Cruise. He has an impersonator out there who looks a lot like him.
Love that scene. Also when Roy tells June he killed the pilot. And when Roy's trying to keep June calm under fire after the car chase by distracting her with questions about her sister's wedding and complimenting her dress while he's killing people. And when June wakes from being drugged to find Roy hanging upside down swinging in and out of frame, "June... I know this looks bad... but we'll be out of here... in a couple of minutes... I got this."
I always burst out laughing early on when June is with the feds driving down the highway, and Cruise comes up the ramp on the police motorcycle, then all you see is a flying bike and Cruise perfectly drops down to the hood of June's out of control car.
