I adore this movie, but there's one issue that nags

Objectively, someone other than Cruise blew up a government facility, murdered a bunch of guys and then pinned it Cruise.
So... Cruise was objectively innocent of any crime other than holding onto the battery and hiding his friends... until the car chase scene where he murders a bunch of guys... In cold blood.
So the traitor was in that car, but so were a bunch of innocent government operatives.
This didn't really fit into the logic of the movie, they weren't a threat to him and he could've contained the situation much more quietly...
After this point, he becomes the very person they were hunting and, in the end, gets away with it because his hunters have *beep* memories.

dont you think, like finds like? bird of a feather flock together?
the bad guy finds other "not so innocent" people for his group.
and no how you look at it... if ANYONE is trying to kill you. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND YOURSELF!!!

Innocent guys that had orders to kill him. In combat, leaders are taught mission first, troop welfare second. His mission was to protect simon and the battery. He couldn't do that if he allowed himself to be caught. That made them tactical threats, because them living jeopardized his chances of keeping simon safe. Its a tough choice to make, but sometimes it has to be made. Unfortunately, when it does, usually one has only fractions of a second to make it. Then too, shot doesn't mean killed. He's a good enough shot and knowledgeable enough of anatomy to incapacitate, same as he did Rodney. We as viewers assume he killed them, but notice it never showed them dead.

He wasn't protecting Simon, he was protecting Diaz, because he thought she was in trouble. But, instead of finding out what the situation was, he just up and murdered some FBI agents. We know they weren't all, if any at all, in on the scheme because a man, later proved innocent, jumps from the vehicle and survives.
Assuming they survived is ultimate speculation. They were shot, they ended. We can assume they died, unnecessarily.

Wrong, he knew what the situation was. He knew they needed the battery. Even if they didn't know they were looking for the battery, the one corrupt agent that framed Cruise would of took it. He didn't necessarily have time to plan an escape. Sure, maybe June was expendable. Maybe if Roy had just ran off without her, he wouldn't of killed dozens of innocent FBI agents. But he still has the right to protect an innocent citizen (June) from gunfire. June had no idea what was going on. Reallly it's Roys fault. But that doesn't mean he had no right to shoot back when they were shooting at him and June. Those men know the risk of their job. As does Roy. June however does not and didn't ask for this to happen.
